Welcome!!!

Thank you for joining us

North Bronx Thinktank is a research organization, comprised of a committee of concerned citizens and merchants, which was established in 2003 for the purpose of resurrecting a better quality of life in our North Bronx neighborhoods.

The mission is to prevent quality of life decay and accelerate programs through research, education, and communication.

Our goal is to identify areas of promise and provide the funding necessary to make these research projects successful in addressing quality of life problems.

Our creation of the following programs have assisted in advancing the prevention and acceleration of a better quality of life in the North Bronx.

*Bronxites for Parks (2003)
*The Committee of 100 Democrats (2004-2006)
*The Children’s Collective (2005)

Start Reforming Bronx Politics:Thursday @5PM

Underneath is from our good friends: Bronx for Change.

Firstly, Bronx For Change deserves much credit in spearheading The Bronx Campaign for Same Sex Marriage. Secondly, on their next quest for Bronx Change, they believe, as we do, like in National (and many State' ) Political Parties, The Bronx Democratic Party should have leadership to help in the winning of elected officals.
BUT THE ELECTED OFFICALS-should NOT run The Party.

Our BASIC OFFICAL POSITION IS THE SAME. While we may not support ALL of the fundamental concepts below we encourage you to learn about our Bronx County system of Government, GET INVOLVED, GET ACTIVE and GET A VOICE!. WE BELIEVE THE PARTY WILL BE STRONGER AS A AN ORGANIZATION THAT PICKS AND SUPPORTS ELECTED OFFICALS-NOT RUN BY THE M AS IT CURRENTLY IS.

WE are offically advocating a Bronx By Law change, effective in 2018, that NO ELECTED OFFICAL can be an EXECUTIVE BOARD MEMBER OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY, By asking for voting today-7 years down the road, that asks for our Party TODAY to implement New Rules-for TOMORROWS Leaders\\

**PRESS ADVISORY**

BRONX FOR CHANGE, NORTHWEST BRONX DEMOCRATS, AND OTHER BRONX REGISTERED DEMOCRATS CALL ON THEIR BRONX DEMOCRATIC COUNTY COMMITTEE TO REFORM ITS INTERNAL ORGANIZATION OUTSIDE THE UPCOMING 2011 ANNUAL DINNER

Bronx for Change, Northwest Bronx Democrats, and other Bronx registered Democrats will confront their party's leadership outside their party's 2011 Annual Dinner to call for reforms of the party's internal organization and political practices. In response to their party's waning political participation, due in part to the party's adopted and condoned undemocratic practices, Democratic Party and community activists and concerned registered Democrats are calling for internal party reforms that will reverse the lackluster electoral and political participation in and throughout the Bronx.

"The Bronx Democratic County Committee should live up to its principles (which have been contracted, compromised or outright corrupted over time) by reforming current self-sabotaging practices. These rehabilitating reforms sought on behalf of ALL Democrats in the Bronx aim to disabuse ourselves by reopening our party and political processes to registered Democrats without the present debilitating conditions," says Ephraim Cruz.

THE PROPOSED REFORMS!!!

The proffered comparative reforms gleaned from national travels and local experiences that we will make the case for in the days ahead include, but are not limited too:

~ Electing non-incumbent party chairs;

~ Centralizing party headquarters, making it accessible to members by BOTH train and bus, which accords sufficient parking, and is staffed from 9AM-9PM Monday-Thursday and 10AM-6PM Saturdays to accommodate members busy lives;

~ Charging the Executive Director with the ongoing political education of, and upcoming event invitations to, all registered Democrats via USPS, email, and website announcements;

~ Charging the Executive Director with setting objectives to exponentially increase voter participation in the primary and general elections;

~ Hiring a consultant who has and continues to reside in The Bronx;

~ The party remaining neutral in primary elections so democratic candidates can fairly compete for the primary nomination;

~ Providing automatic legal and financial support to democratic candidates whose petitions are challenged;

~ Democratic primary candidates only being on our party line on the primary and general election ballots;

~ Members holding only one public position (irrespective of financial responsibility) at a time;

~ Members immediately relinquishing their role with the party upon running for public office (i.e., if the Executive Director decided to run for an assembly seat she/he must vacate her/his position as party Exec Dir.);

~ Prohibiting District Leaders and County Committee Members from being employed by incumbents;

~ Allowing District Leaders and County Committee Members to support whomever they so desire in primaries;

~ Informing members of the hundreds of vacant county committee seats and encouraging members to run for them;

~ Poll Inspectors being assigned to polls outside their Election District (E.D);

~ Furnishing an updated, informative, educational, and inviting website; and

~ Rewriting the BDCC’s by-laws to expressly reflect the aforementioned reforms.
