*Southern Blvd/Kazimiroff Blvd?
This is the name of the sm all "strip" that goes from Fordham Road-going north-past Fordham University & The Botantical Garden-.
Irionically, according to Lloyd Ultan, Bronx Historian, it was The Botantical Garden's idea 30 years ago-to name Southern Blvd this joint name because of thelate great Docor's past accompishments. Today, with the Kazimiroff family still residing in Bedford Park, today's 'leadership" at The Garden wants to "remove" the name: THE REASON THEY SAY; VISITOR CONFUSION. 2009- A Year in Review

Well ladies and hentleman-it took about 9 months-but now our newest local organization is now up and running. And so are we!.

But sadly, as we enter the close of 2009 into 2010, we look at good but mixed results:

*Economic Development-Since 2001, North Bronx Merchant Association has put forard many economic development efforts to now get The 204th St/bainbridge ave District strong again. in recent years, we have assisted in sanitation cleanups, graffitti removal, holiday lights, and now sadly, assisting merchants effected by The Great 204th st Fire of 2009. Good News: only 20% of the Merchant Strip was effected and we hear (from help with Senator Espada Assemblywoman Rivera & Santa Claus) that the 90 year old merchant strip will be celebrating a joyous holiday after all!!!!

*Children's Safety-NO DOUBT THERE IS A SURGE OF BRONX VIOLENCE-AND WE HAVE ASKED current District Attorney Robert Johnson to put forth his gang awareness team into The North Bronx Areas. Call your local community organization to find out when the next class will be held in your area. Our relationship with The Bronx DA, now 4 wonderful years old, with our club "The Children's Collective" has allowed hundreds of class to be held, keeping thousands of families safe.

*Parks- Yes. we (Bronxites for Parks) met with The New Deputy Inspector of the 52 Police Dept. a Very man who understands the importance of Parks & Quality of Life. Hope, for the finalization of illegial BBQing on Mosholu Parkway?

*Political Action- Well, please go to our newest community club for action, NorthWest Bronx Democrats. In short, they had a hell of a year! From beating Liberty Democratic Association in our first platform, to overseeing the Bedford Park/Norwood landscape, replacing, the crumbling, Committee of 100 Democrats, and expanding alliances-from Baychester to Highbridge.

*Economic Development-North Bronx Merchant Association

Pardon us for a bit-while we solve a North west bronx Crises!

Please accept our apologizes. As many of you are aware there has been a Bronx borough wide political Crises the last two years. In The North Bronx specifically, it has sadly turned into a North East-North Wide Controversy.

Since March of 2009, many North west Side community leaders from Fordham. Kingsbridge, Bedford park, Norwood and van Courtlandt Village have requested our assistance in formulating a club to assist them in their goals and purpose. To Have community leaders and the neighborhood- to have a direct voice in the selection of their governmental representitives.

Without this, you get, for example, Perdo Espada?

Wholla, Our newest affiliation
The North West Bronx Liberty Bronx Democratic Club

Please excuse us and we take a bit to assist in the final formulation of this creation.
PLEASE FEEL FREE TO KEEP TRACK OF OUR PROGRESS AT

Stronzer Vs Westphal on March 26th, 2009!

BMCA President & CB7 Parks Chairwoman Barbara Stronzer has asked Mosholu Preservation Corporation President Dart Westphal to bring his "Mosholu Parkway' program to CB7 for discussion.

Two years ago, Mr Westphal brought these designs to BMCA & CB7. At the time he indicated major re-work on the pavements and more greenery on the parkway but indicated the plan has nothing to do with the "service roads" as that was government's responsibility.

Bedford Mosholu Community Association (BMCA) is a 35 year old organization focused on quality of life issues in Bedford park, including cleaning up Mosholu Parkway, annually.

Mosholu Preservation Corp is a Montefiore Hospital Affiliate, assisting in quality of life in Norwood for 28 years.

THE QUAD-is a 4 member institutional alliance (Montefiore Hospital, Fordham University, Botanical Garden & the Bronx Zoo) that is 2 years old pushing this program. They recently pushed and got approved the recent re-fixing of the Fordham Plaza-next to Sears on Fordham Road.

Many wonder if this private institutional partnership should be receiving public money for private actions. Even Don Bluestone, head of Montefiore Hospital Community Center recently was overheard at a recent Community Board meeting saying, "Who does Dart think he is-Henry Moses"?

New Bronx parks Manager-NBT keeps on winning!

While Valarie O'Neal is the new Bronx Manager of The Department of parks, NBT has would significant victories in the North Bronx community with Parks the last several weeks:

Announced through our assisted initiatives:
*NO BBQing Signs on Mosholu parkway
*More "dogi-poo" bags on Mosholu parkway
* Reseeding At Mosholu parkway & Jerome Ave

While we are happy with these victories, as per our community focus, many in NBT loudly wonder if " NO BBQing signs, less dogi-poo and more greenery with make the "NEW homeless" their more happy!!!!????

Homeless Sighted in CB7?

Less than a month after it was announced that 3 homeless shelters were going to be created near Mosholu parkway, "homeless sightings" have begun to take place near "Fordham Landing park".

While confirmed of the sightings by CB7 Parks chair Barbara stronzer The Department of parks investigated the area and said it found "several bags of full garbage" but no homeless

What a Poker Player That Diaz Is!!!

If Politics was Poker After Park, despite his age, Assemblyman and Bronx Borough President Candidate Ruben Diaz jr would be Lloyd Brunson. Quiet at the poker table. making his move when he has to. when feeling pressured-goes all in.

Ruben, since 2006, played with Jeffrey Dinowitz in the West, Pedro Espada in the South, Jimmy Vacca, Michel Benadetto and (in this pic) Diane Serino in The East to formulate "The Rainbow Coalition'-a coalition that has changed Bronx politics. its first test; Borough Presidency of 2009. The NEW Bronx Democratic Party has endorsed Ruben Diaz. But as we hear; June Eisland, Oliver Koppell, Jimmy Vacca, Jose Rivera, Helen Foster and Joel Rivera are considering

We congratulate Ruben on 2 years of great poker-but he has not won yet!

Join Us for our 4th Annual North Bronx Child Abuse Event

North Bronx Thinktank, and its many Bronx affiliates are starting to gear up for their 4th Annual Children Safety Forum in The North Bronx. Since 2006, we have assisted thousands of children and parents; from learning, to counseling, to healing, to solving, to suing!

Go to the link below and read about our first!!!!
From The New York Daily News

And if you would like to assist, call our office at 347.575.5045.

Homeless Shelters on Mosholu Parkway?

At a recent Community Board 7 meeting it was announced by Chairman Gregory Faulkner that 3 Homeless Shelters have moved into the neighborhood-without notification of the board itself!

While Bloomberg & City Government do not need permission from the community board to forward policy goals, CB7, has recently stated that they will "investigate why the board was not notified".

the 3 will be:
1) 199th And Valentine Ave
2) E201st & Briggs Ave
3) Knox Place (Across from De Witt Clinton High School)

IN OTHER WORDS----ON MOSHOLU PARKWAY!. All 3 places are no more than 2 blocks away!

Bronxites for Parks, one of NBT affiliates, just recently concluded a successful NO BBQing campaign we are outraged that public and community leaders have let this slip under their fingers and we firmly support Mr Faulkner in the riddance of these 3 shelters. NBT research shows that in CB7, "Bedford/Mosholu", is only of of 2 "middle class" neighborhoods (The other Upper Norwood).
